Canada defeated Mexico for seventh
place
RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, July 28, 2007.-
Canada downed Mexico in straight sets and the victory was good for
the seventh place in the men’s volleyball tournament of the Pan
American Games. The Canadians won by scores of 26-24, 25-22, 25-20
in 80 minutes.
Canada played with good control and had effective blocking in
route to the victory over a Mexican squad that left the
competition without any success.
Paul Duerden led Canada with 16 points, Nicholas Cundy added 12
and Murray Grapentine and Fred Winters each had 10. Ivan Contreras
and Gustavo Meyer had 15 points apiece for Mexico.
